How to play
Each player has a valley board of 23 hexes. The bag holds 120 wooden tokens of six kinds: Water, Stone, Trunk, Leaf, Wheat and Roof. Every board and every card lies face up. Only the order of the bag and of the animal pile is secret. The seed chooses the first seat.
- Take a dish. On your turn, pick one dish and take all of its tokens. A dish holds three tokens.
- Place the tokens. Put each token on your valley board, one at a time. A token goes on an empty hex, or on a stack that the stack rules allow.
- Take an animal card. You may take one animal card from the row each turn. You may hold up to four unfinished cards.
- Place a peg. When your board shows the pattern of one of your cards, you may place a peg on its target hex. The peg comes off the lowest value on the card.
- End your turn. Place all the tokens you took, then end your turn. The empty dish gets three new tokens. Until then, you may undo.
- The end. The game ends when the bag cannot fill a dish, or when a player has two empty hexes or fewer. Every player then gets the same number of turns. The highest total wins. Equal totals go to whoever placed more pegs.
What you can build
| Tree | A Leaf on top. Under it you can have nothing, one Trunk or two Trunks. |
|---|---|
| Mountain | Stone on Stone, up to three high. |
| Cottage | A Roof on top of one Trunk, one Stone or one Roof. |
| Water, Wheat | These stand alone. Nothing goes on top of them. |
How you score
| Tree | 1, 3 or 7 points, by its height. |
|---|---|
| Mountain | 1, 3 or 7 points, by its height. It needs a mountain next to it. |
| Field | 5 points for each group of two or more Wheat that touch. |
| Cottage | 5 points when it touches three different kinds of token. |
| River | Your longest line of Water scores. Two tokens give 2 points, and six give 15. |
| Animal card | The highest value that a peg has left open on it. |
Playing alone
A game for one player uses three dishes and three animal cards. You rate your points in suns.
Why it is fair
Every shuffle comes from a secret seed. You see its fingerprint at the start of the game. You see the seed itself at the end. So you can check every token and card. Verify a game.
